May: Deadliest Month Since Invasion

This is after May became the deadliest month for US forces since the January elections, with 76 US military casualties.

On CNN's ''Larry King Live" on Monday, Vice President Dick Cheney said of the violence in Iraq, ''I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."

At a press conference on Tuesday, President Bush was asked about the US casualties and the deaths of 760 Iraqis since the new Iraqi government was named April 28. A reporter asked Bush, ''Do you think that the insurgency is gaining strength and becoming more lethal?"

Bush responded, ''I think the Iraqi people dealt the insurgents a serious blow when they, when we had the elections."

Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers was asked on ABC's ''Good Morning America" about the deaths. ''Myers said, 'Well, first of all, the number of incidents is actually down 25 percent since the highs of last November, during the election period. So, overall, numbers of incidents are down. Lethality, as you mentioned, is up. . . . I think what's causing it is a realization that Iraq is marching inevitably toward democracy."

but just remember...

Blablabla ... that's always the same stupid rhetoric they're using!!! They would never ever acknowledge the truth.

ps. shouldn't your headline state 'deadliest month since the elections'? ;)

Bush keeps using that reasoning of losing-means-we're-winning. It's ridiculous. It's like being in a fight with someone and the other person's kicking the living shit out of you, and saying "see how desperate he is? I'm winning."

Dubya needs to be careful, if he really said that... he's giving away his party's strategy on things like "the liberal media", "the Social Security crisis", and "weapons of mass destruction". If he didn't really say that, he might jsut as well have.

It's nice to know we have people in this country who will lay their lives on the line for our freedomn. I did it and had I been killed in action, the President would be the last one to blame. Military personnel have something most Americans don't. They have the courage and willingness to give their lives for this country.

I'm really sorry no one can understand the fact that receiving Intel reports that said Iraq had and was going to use WMDs makes everyone think he lied. Democrats confirmed the report and said their piece about Iraq's WMDs. Go to the Museum of Left Wing Lunacy and check out all the quotes from Democrats about the weapons. Intel reports generated by an agency don't make the person who receives them a liar. Come on, people. It's common sense, despite any liberal "argument."

Most Democrats are as guilty for this war on false pretexts as the Republicans. They didn't dare question Bush because they would have been called 'unpatriotic' ...

Pussies.

Lol, exactly. But the Dummocrats are known for their flip flopping, spineless ways, so they were able to change positions just as quickly as they could. As soon as someone said something different than a Republican President, they were out to lunch.

But hey, Kerry voted for the $87 Billion..........Before he voted against it, lol.

What a joke.
